WoodWing Assets sits at the publishing end of the DAM market. WoodWing acquired the Elvis DAM in 2012 and renamed it WoodWing Assets in 2020, and its standalone SaaS DAM Swivle has since been folded into Assets. WoodWing reports more than 1,500 customers in over 60 countries and 25 years of experience, with a base concentrated in magazine, newspaper and catalogue production. For buyers, this heritage means strong handling of layout-driven workflows and print and digital output from one content pool.
Assets offers AI auto-tagging, a built-in photo and video editor, configurable metadata and permissions, approval paths, multi-brand portals for brands, regions and partners, and an API. Its native link to WoodWing Studio for content creation and to Adobe InDesign is the main differentiator against marketing-led DAMs such as Bynder or Canto. WoodWing Connect adds APIs, webhooks, plugins and a Workato-powered iPaaS, and the vendor states its products integrate with more than 300 services.
Main Capital Partners has backed WoodWing since 2020 and supported add-on deals that broadened the portfolio with Scienta quality management, Xtendis archiving and the Qonqord integration partner, acquired in January 2025. Buyers outside publishing should check fit for brand management and PIM-led use cases, where the product is less specialised. Cloud hosting regions are not published, so EU data residency needs written confirmation.
