Contentserv no longer exists as a standalone brand. Centric Software, the Silicon Valley PLM vendor owned by Dassault Systèmes, announced the acquisition in February 2025 at an enterprise value of EUR 220 million, buying the business from Investcorp, which had held a majority stake since 2019. At the time Contentserv reported more than 1,600 customers in 90 countries. The product is now marketed as Centric PXM, which combines the former Contentserv platform with Centric's syndication and digital shelf analytics.
The DAM inside Centric PXM is built for product content. It manages product images, video and documents with AI tagging, similarity search and metadata enrichment, versioning, rights-compliant renditions per channel and region, approval tasks and role-based access. Centric cites customer results such as Villeroy & Boch reducing manual click work by 60%. Generative AI is documented mainly for product copy enrichment and translation, which matches the platform's PIM-first centre of gravity.
Buyers should evaluate Centric PXM as a product content suite and treat the DAM as one component. It fits best for consumer goods, fashion and manufacturing companies already using or considering Centric PLM, where linking design, product data and assets yields the largest gains. Organisations seeking a brand or marketing DAM will find stronger fits elsewhere. Its main DACH rivals in PIM-led selections are censhare, Pimcore and 4ALLPORTAL, each of which still sells under an independent DACH brand.
